Fiji here I come!

Peter has been in Fiji for a work conference and it is one of those rare occasions when I am invited. We have wonderful memories of holidays in Fiji when Roanne and Cam were much younger so I was very keen to join Peter.
I left Melbourne on a midnight flight after a full day at work. The flight was only about three hours and with the time difference arrived in Nadi very early in the morning. The temperature was very different when we arrived after leaving a wet and windy Melbourne behind.
A shuttle bus was organised and took me to the Sofitel, Denarau Island. After little sleep, bed was very welcoming and I slept my way through most of the morning. We were now settled in for the next four days and I had no commitments even though Peter had to attend a number of work sessions.
The first night we had a Fijian night with our dinner and entertainment by a local entertainment group. This was held outside under the stars with the sound of the waves and a gentle breeze as it was still wonderfully warm.
I had a lovely relaxing time. While Peter was at the various sessions I was free to join the other "partners" either at the pool, relaxing with a book, walking down the beach and generally having some time out. When Peter was free to join me we took the shuttle bus down to Nadi for some shopping experience. The shopping area in Nadi has not changed significantly in the last twenty years. After wandering around the shops, saying no we didn't wish to haggle for items we didn't want, we thought it was time to return to the peace of the resort!
Another time we again took the shuttle bus to the Denarau Island shopping area where the boats and light float planes depart for the various islands. There were restaurants and cafes galore and we were able to meet up with a number of the other LMA licensees and "catch" up in a relaxed environment. Very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
On our second night we joined Grant and Sonya and others for a lovely dinner in one of the restaurants at Denarau Island. At the end of the meal we joined other guest to watch, and for some play, the toad race. It was a lot of laughs.
The Saturday night was a fantastic night. All the women attending had been told to bring a plain camersole with them to Fiji. On our return to our room after lunch we found a beautiful Indian sari of various colours for the women and an Indian outfit for the men. The women were to meet in a function room at 5 pm for assistance to dress in our sari. What a fun time we had. Some 50-60 women all being helped to dress. The colours were just wonderful and bright and we all looked wonderful. We then returned to our rooms to meet our partners. What a job we had getting Peter into his outfit. His size 12 feet just didn't want to work their way down the narrow legs of his trousers. A quick unpick of part of the side seams of the legs helped and before too long Peter looked absolutely elegant!
The Bollywood Night was an evening of wonderful entertainment and great food. The music was loud and wonderful! We all had a wonderful time and created heaps of memories.
On my last day there was beach vollyball down on the sand. It is always amazing how a game such as this brings out the competitive spirit in some people. Neither Peter or I joined in, but we were great spectators.
Before too long it was time for me to pack my bag and head back to the airport. Peter had to stay on for a couple of more days but for me it was back to work. A massage at the airport while waiting for the flight was a great way to finish a very relaxing few days in beautiful Fiji. The Fijian people are so lovely and gracious and again we have wonderful memories of Fiji. We should not leave it so long before we return again.
